What is a wheel weigher?
Wheel weighers are portable pads that weigh one wheel or axle group at a time for fast yard checks, pre-screening, and overweight prevention. They’re part of the “truck scale” family alongside full-length weighbridges (single-draft, Legal-for-Trade when NTEP-certified), portable/modular weighbridges, portable axle scales, and weigh-in-motion (WIM) systems. Wheel weighers are generally not Legal-for-Trade; use a certified weighbridge for commerce. For best results, set up on a flat, level surface and keep axles within a group on the same plane (use roll-up levelers). Some systems support very low-speed in-motion under controlled conditions.
